Summary

PehlaQadam is in its 3rd year now. The PQ team at Indus is working with hospitals and NGOs to eliminate untreated clubfoot in Pakistan. We working towards a national plan that will treat 7000 children/year and save them from a life of disability. Below are our activities from 2013 - 2014.

Direct Impact

300+ children treated in PQ clinic in Indus hospital. 


New photos and statistics are posted every week on Facebook timeline. As of June 25, 2014. Feet under treatment=553. Casts to date=4175. Tenotomies to date = 233. Children on braces = 210.

Partnerships

  • Working with USAID to train doctors in Pakistan. USAID is only funding training of doctors.
  • Pehla Qadam is fund raising to pay for patient treatment including casts and braces and support.
  • Working closely with Pakistan Ponseti Association led by Professor Dr. Anissudin Bhatti. This collaboration is starting clinics inside existing govt. hospitals. 
  • Working with HOPE to adopt a Ponseti clinic
  • Plans to work with 99 teaching hospitals in Pakistan to create Ponseti Clinics
  • Working with Interactive Health Solutions to create a mobile app that integrates with the international registry and enables patient management

 

Fundraising

Last year in 2013 we raised ~$40K.

This year we need to raise $75K to support expansion on PQ clinics across the nation. Please see the research presentation above to see a national expansion plan.
